Sir Henry Harben (24 August 1823 – 2 December 1911) was a British pioneer of industrial life assurance.
His country seat was Warnham Lodge, where he built the Warnham village hall and club; he was a D.L. of Sussex, and served as high sheriff in 1898. An enthusiast for cricket, he constructed one of the best cricket grounds in Sussex, where important matches were played. A conservative in politics, he contested unsuccessfully Norwich in 1880 and Cardiff in 1885.
He was knighted on Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in June 1897. He donated £50 towards the purchase of the field which is the equivalent of about £4600 in todays terms.
